Vic: Global market turmoil to have limited impact here - PM

The treasurer says there is no reason whatsoever for the banking system to pass on
any additional costs to Australian borrowers following the global share market meltdown.

Both PETER COSTELLO and the Prime Minister have spent the day talking up the economy
.. reassuring Australians that the impact of the turmoil will be minimal.

MR COSTELLO says Australian institutions are in strong shape.
