NSW: Building worker wins $12 million

A 52-year-old battler who won $12 million in Powerball today has pledged to use his
winnings to help the needy and fund his retirement.

The building industry worker from Sydney's inner west says he's struggled all his life.

He says he doesn't want much for himself besides a new car.

But he wants to use the money to help out his family and other people in need.

The man, who doesn't wish to be identified, says he thinks it's important to use the
windfall for good causes.

The father-of-three has admitted he'd been praying for $100,000 in the lottery to get
him out of financial difficulties caused by a bad investment.

The winner has worked in the building industry since coming to Australia from Europe
in the 1970s.
