Vic: Man tells of ove for wife, died today after bag snatch
The husband of an elderly Melbourne woman who died after she was injured in a bag snatch,
says she was suffering cancer.
77-year-old BERYL BLOOMFIELD was thrown to the ground in suburban Croydon about 2.15
pm (AEST) yesterday.
She suffered head and internal injuries and was taken to St Vincent's hospital in a
critical condition where she died this morning.
Mrs BLOOMFIELD's husband of 56 years, WALTER, says his wife was becoming increasingly frail.
Police have charged 34-year-old Bayswater North man PHILLIP JAMES FLOWER with one count
each of robbery and recklessly causing serious injury.
He's been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
